The Last Week / makeup class - Overall Thoughts About Creative Thinking Module and Food

My Overeall Thoughts about Creative Thinking Module

This module take a lot of part in helping me brainstorming and thinking of creativity. Beside that, by doing activities, updating blogs, playing games, solving problems, look at other artists' work and making advertisement, those all make me realize there are so many ways of doing a thing, and those all help me thinking faster, challenge me, and i know a lot of things that i don't know before, also it is really something it can apply on my own major in the next term. There are also a lot of changing opinions while presenting our group work where i get to know others' opinion and how their thoughts about it. At the mean time, i also realize it is important to have a creative thinking way as a designer, artist, painter, photographer, and many other art majoring peer. Because for me, it is important to have plenty of creativitity in the creation, instead of repeating or copying other existing work, it is a must to own a new creation as an artist. And also it is what every artist must have in thierselves to be called as an artist. Overall, this is and interesting module to have as an foundation and a very fun and supportive module as well.

COMBINATION of FOOD

For this last meeting of our module, our lecturer want us to create 2 combination of food from a list of food. We start by wroting down the list and do some mind mapping together as this is a group work. And this is the result:

After that, we decided to chose 2 of our mind mapping idea, which is Chilli Gelato and Bacon-Wrapped Fries. and we draw it like this:
My Reflection:
This activity is exciting where we think to mix 2 things so i could be pretty attractive for people to buy and feel anxious to try. This activity also requires understanding of each other as a team and come out by a long consideration of every member of team. The look itself must be as attractive as well to persuade a purchase.

Week 10 - Emotion and Force Connection

Fotce Connection

There are always an art created from different thing put together. But what if the two different thing was impossible to be putted together, due to their own fundamental that could ruin the creation of art itself? Here we do some researches..

My Reflection: Personally, i think this is part of Creativity, it is not easy to create an art that includes different fundamental combine into one. Just the opposite of an unplesant creation, it was an adorable creation which is rich of creativity. It is an art that makes people think about the possibility of the art itself.

CLOCK EMOTION

We are told to make 6 different emotion of a thing, which is: Passionate, Sad, Brave, Creative, Greedy, Har-working.
And this is it:

My Reflection : it is quite fun making emo myself and it is exciting to see on friends work. Different idea makes our imagination running faster than usual.

Week 9 - SELF PORTRAIT & Coca Cola Advertising Idea

Self Portrait

This self portrait doesn't have to be a portrait of ourselves but it is optional what to draw. As long as it describes our personality. For example, like what we love to do, our hobbies, what we likes, what we want people to know about ourselves.

And this come out as my Self Portrait..

MY Reflection: At first, i thought to just draw a fashion illustration because i am major in fashion studies. But after a while i thought that this portrait must able to describe about myself, since it is my selft portrait. So i decided to draw everything i like. It is fashion illustration, human face illustration, flower, and heels. I love doing fashion, drawing human figure and portrait, i love to see various kind of flowers, and i love collecting different kind of shoes. I think this is quite fun because we try to make people who see the portrait would know and guess what kind of person we are. The reason i draw it in black and white instead of using colour is because i like sketching so much and my favourite colour is black and white.

COCA COLA Advertising Idea

We are told to create 'Ad' for Coca Cola company about it's new product 'O2 Coke' in a team.
So we start by a group discussion about the Personal Analogy, which consider as the main reason why we deal with the project. This Personal Analogy includes :
1. Basic Characteristics of O2,
2. Emotion that O2 might have,
3. How someone feels when consuming O2, and,
4. Target Audience

And we come come as this conclusion:

1. Basic Characteristic of O2:
a. colourless  b. tasteless  c. odorless  d. gas  e. element  f. refresh  g. light  e. everywhere

2. Emotion that O2 might have:
a. proud  b. wanted  c. important  d. free  e. helpful  f. useful  g. necessary

3. How someone feels when consuming O2:
.a relief  b. alive  c. safe  d. calm  e. refreshing

4. Target Audience:
a. young adults  b. 15-30 age  c. teenages  d. all genders

After this we try to think about the Ad design, and we make it like this:

LINK TO GROUPMATES: MINOLI, GWENDOLYN, AFIQAH

My Reflection :  Our Ad is about how nowadays polution affected young people. And so by consuming O2 Coke fome Cocacola people no longer need to struggle for just breathing freash air. Our tagline is " Dare to breathe fresirh air?", this is because we try to challenge who usually breathe dirty and unhealthy polution to begin a brand new healthy day. This group work is interesting and very challenging. We are challenge to create an Ad with many many ideas come up and it is hard to eliminate each other idea. But stil everyone wants the best for our project.

Week 8 - PAREIDOLIA

Our teacher told us about Pareidolia where people see things that might not be that things in real. Like it was not the thing we taught it was on just a certain sight we are seeing at. This is more like our brain telling us it looks like something and our eyes believe that iw was the thing.

So this is some of the picture that we hunt around NAFA to find out about Pareidolia:

My reflection: although it was difficult to find around Nafa but it did really exist. i think that this is a very realistic and it was important for everybody to understand this theory. i personally agree that this is something that everybody naturally have it since born and this is quite interesting to explore. and it might bines to art.

JULIE BURSTEIN - 4 lesson in Creativity

My reflection after watching the video :

Julie was sharing 4 lesson about how to create in face of challenge, sleft-doubt, and loss. At the mean time she was also talking about how to let go at the first time and try to strive and control the obtacles and survive at the end. crativity comes from experience and challenge and limitation itself. in order to creat we have to stand between what we see in the world and what we hope for. Remember "you can hold that tension like a violin strain and make something beautiful" it mean we must endure the tense and find way to change it to something better.

Week 7 - How To Make NAFA Looks More Attractive

For who said nafa does not looks attractive, here some solution from our team group about how to make NAFA more attractive:

1. Displaying student work in more interesting and prominent manner, for example allowing the public to write feedback of the work displayed.

2. Large LCD that may display works and performance of student.

3. Certain classroom to be made of anti-glare glasses.

4. Bus exclusively for NAFA student and staff.

5. Optical illusion paintings / street art by student.

6. Min lobby with high ceiling for more attractive first impression.

7. Roof top garden or green house.

8. Nafa student wear attractive uniform

9. nafa lift is outdoor

This might works to make our NAFA more attractive, thanks for concerning..
Solving the chicken problem in class with group:

The problem:
there is a hole in your fence what makes you neighbor's chickens get through the fence and destroy the flower in your garden. What should you do so the chicken would not enter you house anymore without rebuing your neighbor?

here come the solution that we have discussed together:
1. fix the fence
2. move the garden
3. make a sprinkle in the garden
4. build a pond around the garden
5. hired people to kill the chicken
6. hired people to guard the garden
7. hired people to steal the chicken
8. held a campaign to banned chicken destroying garden
9. set fire near the fence
10. set barbed fence
11. feed the chicken somewhere else
12. plant trees instead of flowers
13. just move your house
14. sent anonymous letter about the annoying chicken to yoyr neighbor
15. sent anonymous person to tell your neighbor
16. give an anonymous call to your neighbor
17. hung a dead chicken as a warning
18. steal the chicken when the neighbor is not at home
19. poison the chicken when the neighbor is not at home
20. set stun wire on the ground near the fence

My personal reflection about this activities is that this game really interesting and make us think more harder about how to solve problems. Also to distinguish which way of solving is reasonable and which is not. This also make us more solid as a team to think about how to get many many more ways to solve the problem.

Marshmallow challenge

This challenge is to make a tallest tower with 20 spaghetti and a marshmallow  pinned on the top of the tower. To win, we must have the tower stand steady, must be the tallest one of all, and must finish in time.

And delightedly, our group won the challenge because our tower stand steady without sticking it to any base, finished in time, and were the tallest before the another tallest one finished over time. But it suddenly collapsed after a few minutes. But still we are so happy to accomplished the challenge. And this is hoe it looks like:

My reflection: This game is really challenging, we really fell excited to win that we ever draw a draft before building, and we struggle most on how to build a strong base. We also struggle on the tape because it was not sticky enough to use. But overall it was really fun and interesting and we feel really creative after finishing the game and also we fell that the atmosphere while competing each other is really tense.

Week 6 - Artist Who Have Broken the Rules

1. Marc Quinn
He used his own blood to create frozen sculptures of his face..

2. Unarrom
tasty breads from "BODY BAKERY"

3. Wieki Somers
Sculpture from human ashes..

Some ask..Are the used of human body ethically acceptable in art? I ask..Are there anything else can be used instead of human body? Didn't it feel so tragic to do such a thing to create an outlandish art? is it worth taking?

Week 5 - MIND MAPPING

Our lecturer told us to do mind mapping about:
1. THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
2. CREATIVE AND INNOVATION

And this is it...

Week 4 - Designers Who Have Broken the Rules

1. PAULINE VAN DONGEN
 Dress to charge smartphone..

PAULINE has inspire me about the combination that she try to put together technology in fashion. Her idea is super brave for me because this is about how to put electrical stuff onto human body without having risk of harming the health of the person wearing it.

2. DAAN ROOSEGAARDE
White to transparent when your body change temperature..
Black to transparent when a man come close to you..

This is obviously breath taking especially for guy.. how come a dress..can i call this thing dress?
How come a dress change transparent when a man come closer? I can't even imagine how smart how creative and how crazy is DAAN could ever make this gorgeous combination of art.

3. DIFFUS
Dress React to CO2 in the Air

Dress is a proper creation made from fabric that uses to cover our body from bad environment that might harm our body and cause sickness. Dress is also a proper way to show respect and social manners. As in some places in the world people still holding tight on etiquette. Some still aware and worry how high-tech dress impact to health. But instead of cherishing all etiquette and manners, some would rather redeem their desire, their imagination and creativity. This is what those 3 designers above really wanted to tell us by using their masterpiece. Maybe some will say they are crazy nuts, but they call themselves artist and call their work art. This is where we are challenge to think from another perspective. Where art is not just all about obeying the rules but it is also about how possible to think out of the box and how possible the thing to be created. I don’t think that breaking the rule is too far as long as they are just showing their creativity by working on outstanding artwork. Nobody offense for brainstorming is free anywhere anytime for anybody. They deserve what they produce and they have right to expose it.

Week 2&3 - 100 WAYS TO..

SOME PICTURES OF BRAINSTORMING GROUP WORK

LINK TO GROUPMATES: MINOLI, GWENDOLYN, AFIQAH

MY PERSONAL REFLECTION OF THE PROCESS OF BRAINSTORMING:

Brainstorming helps me to think faster and faster instead of instantly look at any reference and copy it. This was difficult at the first time but as it goes on, i personally good to go with it. I feel a bit slow like waiting a browser buffering an information but i realize that it become better and better subsequently. Nevertheless, i figure out that i still have a limit of thinking ideas. Sometimes it just like i really run out of idea and can't think out anything. So for me, it is better to stop brainstorming when you already really messed up your mind and tired to think about anything. And after a break, maybe like after a lunch, a walk, a shower, or a nap, you could freshen up your mind and start to brainstorming again. Beside that, thinking about 100 ways to do something is an interesting work. It makes me realize that there are plenty ways to just do a simple thing like squeezing a lemon, build a snowman, kill a cockroach, or anything. I think this is quite similar to thinking ways to make an innovation of machine, like some genius scientist making a cure, like a peson who are lost in a junggle and are forced thinking how to use the nature to survive. Overall, i conclude that brainstorming is a basic and a need for an art people, an artist and also a designer. It is common for everyone but it always appear as a crucial technique that anybody who engaged in art must get used to it.
OTHER TECHNIQUES:
  1. Time Travel. How would you deal with this if you were in a different time period? 10 years ago? 100 years ago? 1,000 years ago? 10,000 years ago? How about in the future? 10 years later? 100 years later? 1,000 years later? 10,000 years later?
  2. Teleportation: What if you were facing this problem in a different place? Different country? Different geographic region? Different universe? Different plane of existence? How would you handle it?
  3. Attribute change. How would you think about this if you were a different gender? Age? Race? Intellect? Height? Weight? Nationality? Your Sanity? With each attribute change, you become exposed to a new spectrum of thinking you were subconsciously closed off from.
  4. Rolestorming. What would you do if you were someone else? Your parent? Your teacher? Your manager? Your partner? Your best friend? Your enemy? Etc?
  5. Iconic Figures. This is a spinoff of rolestorming. What if you were an iconic figure of the past? Buddha? Jesus? Krishna? Albert Einstein? Thomas Edison? Mother Theresa? Princess Diana? Winston Churchill? Adolf Hitler? How about the present? Barack Obama? Steve Jobs? Bill Gates? Warren Buffet? Steven Spielberg? Etc? How would you think about your situation?
  6. Superpowers. This is another spinoff of rolestorming. What if you suddenly have superpowers? Superman? Spiderman? Wonderwoman? X-Men? The Hulk? One of the Fantastic Four? What would you do?
  7. Gap Filling. Identify your current spot – Point A – and your end goal – Point B. What is the gap that exists between A and B? What are all the things you need to fill up this gap? List them down and find out what it takes to get them.
  8. Group Ideation. Have a group brainstorming session! Get a group of people and start ideating together. More brains are better than one! Let the creative juices flow together!
  9. Mind Map. Great tool to work out as many ideas as you can in hierarchical tree and cluster format. Start off with your goal in the center, branch out into the major sub-topics, continue to branch out into as many sub-sub-topics as needed. Source Forge is a great open-source mindmapping software that I use and highly recommend.
  10. Medici Effect. Medici Effect refers to how ideas in seemingly unrelated topics/fields intersect. Put your goal alongside similar goals in different areas/contexts and identify parallel themes/solutions. For example, if your goal is to be an award winning artist, look at award winning musicians, educators, game developers, computer makers, businessmen, etc. Are there any commonalities that lie among all of them that you can apply to your situation? What worked for each of them that you can adopt?
  11. SWOT Analysis. Do a SWOT of your situation – What are the Strengths? Weaknesses? Opportunities? Threats? The analysis will open you up to ideas you may not be aware before.
  12. Brain Writing.Get a group of people and have them write their ideas on their own sheet of paper. After 10 minutes, rotate the sheets to different people and build off what the others wrote on their paper. Continue until everyone has written on everyone else’s sheet.
  13. Trigger Method. Brainstorm on as many ideas as possible. Then select the best ones and brainstorm on those ideas as ‘triggers’ for more ideas. Repeat until you find the best solution.
  14. Variable Brainstorming. First, identify the variable in the end outcome you look to achieve. For example, if your goal is to achieve X visitors to your website, the variable is # of visitors. Second, list down all the possibilities for that variable. Different variations of visitors are gender/age/race/nationality/occupation/interests/etc. Think about the question with each different variable. For example, for Genre: How can you get more females to your website? How can you get more males to your website? For age: How can you get more teenagers to your website? How can you get more adults to your website? And so on.
  15. Niche. This is the next level of variable brainstorming method. From the variations of the variable you have listed, mix and match them in different ways and brainstorm against those niches. For example, using the example in #14, how can you get more male teenagers to your website? (Gender & Age) How can you get more American female adults to your website? (Nationality, Gender & Age)
  16. Challenger. List down all the assumptions in your situation and challenge them. For example, your goal is to brainstorm on a list of ideas for your romance novel which you want to get published. There are several assumptions you are operating in here. #1: Genre to write: Romance. Why must it be that romance? Can it be a different genre? Another assumption is for a novel. #2: Length of the story: Novel. Why must it be a novel? Can it be a short story? A series of books? #3: Medium: Book. Why must be it a book? Can it be an ebook? Mp3? Video? And so on.
